You can rest easier knowing I am specifically trained for the challenges and situations that clients age fifty and over face, including cultivating a network of related senior specialists in fields such as estate planning, tax counseling, and elder law so that I can provide a truly outstanding client experience. You get the best experience possible. It’s what I love to do.
As a healthcare provider for over 25 years, I come with a much different perspective than other real estate agents. I have spent decades observing patients unable to enjoy their own homes. I focus on homes built under Universal Design–homes designed with the changing needs of seniors in mind. Universal Design includes things such as no step entries, one story floor plans, wider doorways, open floor plans with extra floor space, senior-friendly bathrooms, and more features designed to help seniors live comfortably without feeling like they have turned their home into a hospital ward.
The number of Americans living in a multigenerational household with three or more generations has nearly quadrupled over the past decade, with a dramatic increase of 271 percent from 2011 to 2021 (7 percent vs. 26 percent). The basic idea of multigenerational living is that at least two adult generations live together. This could look like a home with grandparents living with their children and grandchildren, a home with parents and their adult children, or even a four-generation home. In a multigenerational home, each generation will benefit from having their own separate space and privacy. Many multi-gen homes also have a separate living area and even a kitchen and separate entrance. This can be a great way to save money, spend time with family, and have tremendous benefits for each family member. I work with builders that offer these floor plans and can find homes with these specific traits.
Downsizing is the process of moving from a larger home to a smaller one, often one that costs less in upkeep. This might mean moving from a detached, single-family property to a condo or townhome, or to an assisted living facility or retirement community. There are many factors that influence when and why you should downsize. Sometimes medical conditions will pose constraints making part of your home unusable or even dangerous, such as stairs or a pool. In some instances you may have had a large family and needed a 5 bedroom home, but now the children have moved out and the upkeep has become overwhelming. Each situation is unique and requires much consideration. Let my experience and training help serve you in this transitional phase. There may be benefits you were not even aware existed, such as a home that no longer needs upkeep and comes complete with warranty..
As we age, most people find it more difficult to keep up with maintenance of home ownership. At one point a private pool and 4 bedrooms fit your family needs, but now the majority of the home sits vacant, or even worse has become neglected and falling apart. However, many Seniors are not at the point of assisted living or nursing home situations. This is where new construction fills this need. Let me sell your current home that no longer works for you and help you find the home of your dreams that enhances this stage of your life. From home warranties, to landscaping maintenance, community clubhouses, and pools, this can often be the answer to your stress relief.
I utilize many lenders to find which one works for you. Let's connect and get your journey started.
